HERO stands for Honest, Educated, Responsible, Owner.
Our goal is to be able to provide safe, affordable housing to people who are not ready or able to buy a home.
When housing policy eliminates the ability to do background screenings, you jeopardize that.
When you're forced to accept Section 8 Vouchers, you diminish the already low housing inventory. Hard-working people who can't qualify for government subsidies will have no where to live.
And you, the landlord, will be subject to extra work due to government requirements and restrictions.
Landlords, how would you feel if your local law forced you to accept Section 8 vouchers?
What if you couldn’t discriminate against a tenant even if they had prior evictions or a poor credit score?
What about criminal convictions and arrests?
If it were me, I would be wildly concerned about people who fall into these categories, especially if it’s going to affect the value of my home, my neighbor’s home or that it’s possible one of these convicted felons winds up next to a single mother…
And I’m the one responsible for putting them there.
Scenarios like this are happening right now and it’s running rampant across the United States.
There was a tenant union that attempted to have all these items passed earlier this year. They only won some of them because we were able to stop them.
This all makes rent control sound like a picnic, and let’s not forget, that’s happening too.
The enemy is a group of tenant unions, specifically KC Tenants, who have worked to pass legislation that has taken the scenario I described above and made it into a reality for landlords just like you.
They are extremely organized.
They are many.
They believe they’re right.
And it’s not just KC Tenants. Organizations like this are sprouting up all across the country.
Most importantly, they have direct ties to Joe Biden’s Renters Bill of Rights and to the very corrupt Federal Housing Finance Administration.
I know what you’re thinking. All of this only happens in places like New York and California where there's a lot of progressive, liberal politics.
And unfortunately, you would be wrong. What I just described above was a piece of legislation that was [partially] passed in Kansas City, Missouri.
That’s in the middle of a red state, which borders another red state.
So if it can happen there, it can happen anywhere…including your backyard.
We haven’t been as organized as our enemy but that doesn’t mean we can’t win.
As mentioned above, there were elements of their bogus bill that did not get passed due to the efforts of some founding members of the movement I’m asking you to join today.
These same members have won battles like this before with other groups….
A few years ago there was a piece of legislation that put Self-Directed IRA’s at risk for real estate investors.
We stopped that.
Before that, there was legislation that was going to extend the Moratorium again, late in the pandemic.
And we stopped that.
We have won before but this fight is going to be brutal.
We need you now more than ever.
The truth is landlords across the nation are fed up! Many have sold their properties in frustration of what has taken place; unbeknownst to them, there was another option.
Instead of giving up. You must stand up.
You didn’t come this far only to come this far! Most of you are building a portfolio to pass down.
Some of you even started out poor yourself and completely changed your wealth trajectory in one generation.
If it were up to KC Tenants, and any organizations following in their footsteps, they would keep the poor poor and turn your success into their stepping stone.
Are you ok with all your hard work just disappearing simply because you didn’t know this was happening or that there was an organization out there fighting for your rights as a landlord?
Let me put it to you this way: Do you want someone telling you who you can and can’t rent to? How much you can rent for? And what type of payments you should accept?
If you care about protecting the rights to your assets and the legacy you have built, it’s time to show up and take an active role.
HERO stands for: Honest, Educated, Responsible, Owner.
You’ve been a HERO all along, you just didn’t know it and there was no place for you to apply it.
All I can tell you is that every time we have won in the past it’s been with people just like you pitching in.

I am a changemaker and protector at my core. I am an attorney who primarily serves people in the real estate space with my law practice in the state of Ohio for the last 33 years.
I have changed national housing policy three times (and I am only getting started).
I have co-authored a bill that is currently pending before congress to make it easier for real estate investors to participate in seller-financing.
I am a founding member of the Seller-Finance Coalition that has been operating for the last 8 years.
Additionally, I have changed the law in the state of Ohio five times.
